Make Your Own Printables with Chantal

Colour is my jam and like many, I have a load of things pinned on my Pinterest board (colour combos and wonderful graphics). Once in a while, I'll get inspired and I'll create something of my own in Photoshop, for my projects. Digital printables are a quick and easy way to add a little "oomph" to any layout and keeping it simple is best. If you have a cutting machine like me, you can create custom flags and tags but if you prefer to stick to your manual punches, circle printables in 1in, 2.5in and 3in, are THE best!

First off;

1- choose a great font (e.g., something that can still be clearly read when sized at 15 pt)
2- pick out a colour palette
3- find a few simple words and/or sayings

Font Guideline Tips

Remember, if you're mix and matching your fonts; opposites attract. Like serif & sans serif, fat & skinny and uppercase & lowercase. An example of great font combinations are Lora & Source Sans Pro and Futura & Georgia Italic.

The below project was created with some of this month's Sugarland goodies and a few basic printables that I designed in Photoshop, especially for this layout.

As a special thank you, here's a link to a few Sugarland coordinating printables. Enjoy!

Happy creating!

It's On. Pocket Life Time!

Hey Everyone! This is Jennie with today's project. I used the January Pocket Life Kit. The Sugarland Pocket Life Kit is sold out! Make sure you subscribe to join the Citrus fun on February.

This kit is perfect for starting the year but I am still working on my 2017 album and guess what, it works for that too!

I love that the kits come with pattern papers because I can either make little die cuts or I can play with smaller photos.

I kept my title card super simple. I used the awesome Puffy Alpha Stickers for the title, the label where I stamped the dates is from the cut outs and to decorate I added puffy stickers.

This spread had a lot of color so I used black and white papers to bring a little balance.

I used my favorite method to journal, I put a number in a photo and then I write all the journaling in one card. I used the card with the ampersand to write the journaling. These cute cork hearts come in the January Kit.

I used a card from the kit to create a filler card. The llama is a cut out from the 6x6 papers. I layered it with washi, a die cut and puffy stickers.

I hope you enjoyed these pages! If you need help to catch up on your PL check out the first challenge of the year.
Take Care!

In My Studio with Guest Designer Mel Blackburn

Hello crafty friends! Happy to be back on the Citrus Twist blog to share my creative work space! As you will see I don’t have a dedicated room, I set up my workspace in the corner of our dining room. As our family grew I’ve had to downsize from a spare bedroom to a corner of the basement (much larger than this) to a single table in the corner of our dining room. I quickly learned to adapt whatever little space I had and made it work! The key to a small space is managing my supplies, I only purchase things that I really love and know that I will use. I also do a purge every 6 months or so, if I haven’t used a product in 6 months it means I don’t need it and I can pass it on to someone who can use it.

My space consists of a small desk, a rolling cart and an Ikea armoire. I added shelves above my desk for additional storage, however since my work space is in the family dining room it always has to be tidy! I can’t let things pile up, so this again forces me to be very organized.

On the shelves above my desk I keep decorative items but also a small basket for pictures and a wood crate for stamps. The desk drawer is home to inks, tools and other handy supplies. The cart to the left of my desk features a container for my OLW project, a basket for creative team work and a stamp bin for all my favorite stamps. As you can see since everything has a place, keeping things in order is not a problem.

The Ikea armoire to the left of my desk is where I keep all my scrap supplies, from journaling cards, to kit club purchases, to my Cuttlebug and camera bracket. Things are piled on top of each other but everything has its place and small containers are key to helping me stay organized.

Since my space is in a shared room of our home, where we have company or our daughters hangout with their friends, I really have to make it work and fit with our lifestyle. I love that I am able to work and be in the same room as my family as they do their own activities. Sharing and having a small space really is a great thing!

Here is a sneak preview of my upcoming project created with the Sugarland PL kit, for this project I opted to create a fun TN spread, I can’t wait to share the full project with you!

Sunday Sketch with Laetitia

Hi everyone, I'm delighted to meet you with the great sketch of the day.I really like his style and all the elements it contains. It 's perfect for this first kit of the year that I find beautiful and always as well stocked with its various embellishments.

I adapted this sketch in 12x12 format on a white cardstock. And as the papers are very colorful, I chose to print the photo in black and white.

I first glued the papers by superimposing them on the top left. I added the tag, placed my picture and a pretty pompom frame. Then I added the embellishments.

I used 2 stamps of the nice set from the kit below the photo.

For the title I used the pretty chipboard "Good Vibes" of the 12x12 board included in the kit of embellishments of January. I find it perfect because it's clear on the page.

And you, will you let yourself be tempted by this sketch?

Have a lovely sunday.

3-To-Inspire with Emma

Hi CTK friends!  It's Emma on the blog with today's 3-To-Inspire challenge!  We love to share this challenge every Saturday for those of you that are looking for a little extra push to get scrapbooking, to keep scrapbooking, or those just looking for a challenge (and the chance to win a little something is a nice little bonus!).

I hope you'll join me this week using the following prompts:

1. Create a "grid" style layout
2. Have your title on a different angle, i.e. it could be vertical, diagonal or even curved (just not running horizontally)
3. Use atleast 2 different pattern papers on your page

And here is the page I came up with!

I mixed a few pieces from the Main, Pocket Life and Add-on Kits for this one.  My page started with my photo, the truck/van die-cut, the tag die-cut (that I've printed the journaling on) and those gorgeous pink alpha's from this months PL kit.  I layered them on top of one another to form a grid-style cluster in the middle of the page.

To fill the large white space left at the top and bottom, I added a couple patterned paper borders, layering the different patterns and machine stitching them in place.  I picked the pinks to tie-in with the title and the pinks of the cupcakes in my photo's!

For contrast on my page I used the pops of yellow at the top and bottom (puffy stickers at the bottom of my photo and I cut little pieces from the PL cards for the top of my page).

I fixed my title vertically on my page so that it fills that bottom right corner of my grid (underneath the front of the truck/van die-cut).

I just love the puffy stickers included in the Pocket LIfe kit this month - they are the perfect mix of colours and fun shapes!  I particularly love the red and yellow star scalloped border piece so I mimicked the design at the top of my page by using the centre pieces from the "P" and "R" alpha letters, by sticking them together they look like a pink scalloped border too!  Always fun to use those left over pieces to make something new ;)

Now it's your turn! Use the three prompts to create your own project/s and share them with us here in the gallery and/or our Facebook Forum.  I can't wait to see your take on this one!

Take care, Em xo
